The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults(RCIA) is a formation process offered to non-Catholic adults who are discerning becoming Catholic and for Catholics interested in learning more about their faith or those preparing for Confirmation. Participants meet with the RCIA catechesis (teaching) team on Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 PM in the St. Martin de Porres Knobbe House beginning in September and continuing through Pentecost Sunday. RCIA liturgies (special prayers at designated Sunday Masses) take place at key points during formation. Reception into the Catholic Church occurs with the Sacraments of Initiation on Holy Saturday, followed by sessions that take place after Holy Saturday through Pentecost Sunday to help the newly initiated transition into life as a Catholic Christian.2024-2025 RCIA Schedule
RCIA Catechesis of Children
Catechesis of Children is a part of RCIA that is designed specifically for the catechizing of children who have reached the age of reason, which is typically 2nd grade. The RCIA team works with these children who want to join the faith or complete their initiation sacraments. This formation process is conducted on an as needed basis.RCIA Sponsors
The RCIA team welcomes people in our parish to dedicate time as sponsors for the candidates wishing to become Catholic. A sponsor is a practicing Catholic who assists and guides the candidate throughout their formation journey as a counselor and friend. This ministry can be very rewarding in that the sponsor becomes very close to the candidate while the candidate, preparing to profess their faith, comes closer to God.

We are privileged witnesses of all those who are starting on their own spiritual journey to come and seek Christ through the telling of our stories, sharing life experiences, and opening of our minds and hearts to the Word of God. We are dependent on the flow of Christ's love through us as we advise and guide them in an environment of prayer and trust, viewing them with the eyes of Christ. We will do this through the catechesis of the Catholic Faith, breaking open the word of God and receiving the Sacraments.
