The Sacrament of Marriage is a lasting commitment of a man and a woman to a lifelong partnership, established for the good of each other and the procreation of their children.
To get started with the sacrament of marriage, you need to meet with a priest to begin the process. This sacrament requires preparation by the couple. This preparation is done by meeting with another couple, attending weekend seesions, or attending a weekend retreat. To allow enough time for the preparation, please try to contact the parish office at least six months prior to your scheduled wedding date.
Please call the Parish Office to set up an appointment. For the first appointment, please bring your sacramental history with you. It helps!!!
The St. Ferdinand Marriage Encounter community consists of approximately 25 couples of the parish who have all been fortunate enough to know the beauty of a Marriage Encounter weekend. Once a couple makes a Marriage Encounter weekend, they are cordially invited to take an active part of our community. This consists of attending a meeting once a month. There, the couples come together to pray, share, and to dialogue with their spouses and each other, and to have a good time. There's no pressure with Marriage Encounter - no one takes notes or attendance, it costs nothing, and is for all age groups. Marriage Encounter is a group of couples who come together to reaffirm what their sacrament is and what it is calling them to be. For more information, please contact the Parish Office or see the bulletin.
If you are seeking an annulment you will also need to set up an appointment with a priest. Please call the Parish Office in order to set up an appointment to begin the process. Please bring your marriage information, divorce decree, sacramental history, and any other information associated with your previous marriage or marriages.
If you would like to meet with a priest or receive some assistance in finding adequate counselling, please call the Parish Office to set up a time to meet with the priest. If we cannot assist you ourselves, we will do our best to help you find the assistance you need.
