Holy Orders refers to the the sacrament conferred on men becoming priests and deacons for the church. This sacrament idelibly marks the recipient as a minster of God's flock, enabling them to take God's sacraments into the world.
Priests serve the church in a unique way. Called by God, they minister the sacraments to the lay faithful. Priests may also serve as parish pastors, teachers, spiritual directors, and in other ministries determined by the bishop.
Permanent deacons are men called by God to serve the church as well. Deacons are usually men who are married or have been married, and are called to serve the church in a more formal manner. These men help in the sacramental life of the church, as well as in other ministries as assigned by the bishop.

People called to the religious life take vows to live according to their chosen order's charisms, serving God and his church through prayer and other service. Many religious are teachers, care givers, hospital workers, and missionaries, to name a few.
